History of Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve
Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve came up into existence from a a nucleus project, extended in by the government’s mission to concert land south of river Greek aiming at improving agriculture, retarded the viability of this wildlife conservation in the whole area by then known and gazetted as the Debasien Animal Sanctuary in 1958. Due to the Organic nature and the shady glades in the area, it gave a sweet taste and desire to expand it northwards in 1964, thus attaining its current the Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, a place that no man would just bypass without having a lean against it due to its breath-taking scenic views and its habitants.

Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is a home to the Cheposukunya hot springs well known for geothermal tapping in the place, this place is a stunning hotspot for bird lovers, over 100 bird species can be seen in the area, On your lucky day, you will be welcomed by the giant northern Ostriches, other bird species include; African eagles, herons, owls, egrets, Cormorants, Darters, Pelicans, hawks, jacanas, cranes, turacos, plovers and lapwings, woodhoopoes, grass birds and so many more.
Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is a destined centre for the various undisturbed plant, shrubs and grass specie that like dwelling in the semi-arid region northern plain, that less often receives rainfall throughout the year, the good point to note here on your Uganda Safari is that, it stills holds some of the vast un exploited land. Most common plant and grass species recorded in the park include thatching grass and bristle species, Harrisonia abyssinica, bushwillows, and red spike-thorns, butterfly pea and wooly caper bush.
